Bikes not Bombs is a Boston-based organization that recycles, repairs, and donates bicycles to disadvantaged people both abroad and within the local community. Students were tasked with designing a headquarters that would increase educational outreach.

The program is organized along a central spine that passes through each of the three major interior spaces. The retail front and outreach center extend as close as possible to Centre St while the general workshop and staff offices are sited farther back. Three exterior outdoor spaces, one private and two public, occupy the voids.

The panels in the facade around the double height general workshop were designed to adjust in order to reveal what activities were occurring to people passing by on Centre Street uphill of the site.
